https://twitter.com/DrewEIT/status/918537941823246338 Which of these 3 approaches BEST aligns with your view or outlook on speedrunning? Competition based - Leaderboards, records, and structure are important. Races or tourneys could also be highly emphasized. Focus is on the runners and their achievements. The drive to push times faster is by being the best and beating your competition. Collaboration based - Viewing a new WR not as an individual's achievement but an effort from the entire community. With this approach it's not about "who" sets the record it's "how". Glitch hunting and/or route discussion are important, and overall collaboration to drive record times down. Self based - Speedrunning is a self motivated pursuit for you. The drive to improve and better yourself by getting faster times and PBs, whether it's a record or not. The reward for you is seeing your times get better, knowing the time you've put in is paying off. You want to set goals for yourself and achieve them, regardless of what others are doing.
