SPEEDRUNS ROCHESTER SUMMER FUNDRAISER - ONLINE MARATHON STREAMING GUIDE RUNNERS Stream Settings In OBS, set your stream settings to Custom Streaming Server with the following info: URL: rtmp://rtmp.dorkmasterflek.com/live Stream key should be one of the following: roc-1, roc-2, roc-3, roc-4 Which stream key you use depends on the number of participants in your run. The restreamer should confirm which one to use. For the bitrate, this depends on the speed of your connection. Don't worry if you need to set this lower, this is fine. On the other hand if you have amazing internet, you also don't need to set this super high. Remember: The restream will be broadcast at 720p, and the layout also includes run info, current donation total, etc. so your game feed will be smaller than that. You definitely don't need to set your broadcast higher than 720p, and you probably don't want to set your bitrate above 1500. If it's lower than this, that's fine too. If your game is extremely high motion and requires a higher to be clear, discuss with the restreamer to see what bitrate their internet can handle. Scene Setup For commentary, we want to have you and any commentators in a Discord call for the restream so that the host can be in there to read donations when they come up. You should stream only game audio to the rtmp server. Make sure to disable all notifications (browser, window, discord, streamlabs) and other sounds during your run. If your setup is limited such that your game audio has to be on the same source as the discord call, let the restreamer know. In that case, you'll stream all audio (the game, your mic, the discord call) to the rtmp server. For the scene itself, just make the game feed as big as possible and that's all you need in the scene. The restreamer will be handling the timer. When Your Run Is Over Don't forget to stop your stream when your run is finished please! If you continue streaming to a particular stream key, it prevents other runners from using the same key. COMMENTATORS AND RESTREAMERS If you're a commentator or restreamer watching the streams, you can view them here: http://restream.dorkmasterflek.com The Show/Hide buttons can be used to show up to four separate players on the page. A custom RTMP stream key or Twitch stream can be entered, but generally the shortcut buttons for the "roc-#" streams should be used. The player will autoplay muted by default, as long as somebody is currently streaming to that key. NOTE: If you get a blank screen, most likely nobody is currently streaming to that key. You'll need to hit the button again to refresh the player once the runners are streaming to it. The player can't refresh automatically once the runners starts streaming. IF YOU'RE NOT RESTREAMING OR COMMENTATING A RUN, PLEASE WATCH THE REGULAR TWITCH CHANNEL! We can't have a ton of people all using the RTMP box at once, thanks. ;) NOTE FOR RESTREAMERS OBS has issues window capturing Google Chrome if hardware acceleration is enabled. If you get nothing but black on your window capture, this is the cause. To disable hardware acceleration in Chrome do the following: Go to Settings -> Advanced. Under System, uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available. Restart Chrome for this to take effect. The current version of Firefox does not have this issue if you prefer to use it instead, but Chrome seems to perform best with the HTML5 player. As long as you can window capture the restream page in OBS, you're good to go.
