The Wind Waker HD - Speedrunning FAQ! Q: Why is it in Spanish? What happened to Japanese? A: When making TWWHD they sped up all the languages _except_ Japanese (so Japanese is slow). Turns out Spanish is the fastest language for North American Wii U's. Italian is apparently a bit faster than Spanish but its only available on European Wii U's at the moment. Q: Why is the time so close to the original when they fixed the storage glitch, so no superswims and they removed the tingle tuner? A: There are several things that actually make TWWHD faster than the original. You can skip the intro cutscene. They added a swift sail in this game. They sped up the text speed. They greatly shortened the Triforce quest at the end of the game (this saves large amounts of time). Q: What is the fastest time for this game? A: You can find zelda speedrun records here: http://zeldaspeedruns.com/leaderboards/twwhd/any Q: Which game is better for speedrunning? A: I think the original is more 'hardcore' with the difficult glitches, however I am pretty burnt out on doing attempts for it. With Wind Waker HD being new and AGDQ coming up I'd like to focus on TWWHD for now. Q: Are you running Any% or 100%? A: I am running Any% (try to beat the game as fast as possible with any and all exploits). Q: Why are you collecting Joy Pendants in Dragon Roost Cavern? A: I need 21 of these so I can get the Cabana Deed, an item required to get one of the Triforce Shards and complete the game. There is a TAS-only method of achieving the Cabana Deed skip but it is not viable for real time speedruns. Q: What's with the auction for the Swift Sail? A: I need it to appear. Each time I start the auction there is a random chance of it appearing. I think it wastes around 40 seconds each time it is not there, and I must get it because it saves too much time overall to skip it. Q: What is going on with the cyclone? A: When I sail into Cyclos I get put at one of several random spots on the map. The worst by far is Dragon Roost Island, and the best is Outset (saves 2min). Q: Are you running this at AGDQ? A: Yeah.
