Nobody from SRL forced, told, or suggested Cronikeys to shut down Congratsio. As for her motive to take down the site, I believe it stems from the site goals of SRL and Congratsio. SRL has streams and races. However, we are always thinking ahead and we have been planning leaderboards (as in a way to see how your run ranks against others in a competitive listing) for at least 18 months. Only recently have we gotten big enough to even attempt at building them correctly and still be able to have enough of the speedrunning community participate to make it a valuable resource. The undertaking of making a fair, competitive leaderboard system for speedrunning is so ridiculously complicated and there are many things that must be done correctly for it to be sustainable and functional in the long term. This was our goal. Recently I saw Cronikeys mention how she was launching some new features on Congratsio, and that one of them would be "leaderboards for all games later in February." This set off a red flag to me, as we had been approaching the idea cautiously instead of jumping in and doing it wrong. I asked her if she was actually building leaderboards for Congratsio, at which point she showed me her plan for the site. Her plan for the site included many features that Jiano and I had discussed building over the coming months/years, including leaderboards. At this point I said that if we both continue working on our respective sites, that Congratsio would shift from a complementary to SRL to a competitor of SRL, which I thought was strange because the user-base is the same group of speedrunners. To me it seemed like we should be working together instead of on separate but similar projects. I told her she was a talented developer and I asked her to consider merging her recent work/future plans with ours so we could work together instead of separately. She said she would consider it. Then she took the site down, claiming SRL took it down. I find the situation pretty ridiculous and I'm upset that some people are seeing SRL in a bad light now. This is how it went down from my perspective. -Cosmo
