1. Are you serious? Yes. Very. You might say I'm........100% serious........ 2. What is 100% classified as? -All debts to Tom Nook are paid off (all housing upgrades, golden statue near train station) -The museum is complete (all bugs, fish, fossils, and paintings) -Tom Nook's catalog is complete (1289 items, including furniture, clothing, wallpaper, carpet, stationary, items, gyroids, fossils, and music) 3. How long is this supposed to take? It's actually very hard to give a definite estimate for this category, but the current estimate is at 80 hours. It is an extremely high estimate; it's possible it could be significantly less than 80 hours, but the sheer amount of things that I need to collect combined with the fact that most of this stuff is entirely random makes for a high estimate, just to be on the safe side. The only part of the run that has a definite time is getting my debt paid off, which takes approximately 40-50 minutes. 4. An 80 hour estimate? Yes. 5. Why are you doing this? Because I can. 6. How is this routed? I start on March 20th in the game in order to obtain an item called the Spring Medal, which I can sell for approximately 14000 bells. I take care of all the chores Tom Nook gives me, and then enter a code for a Modern Table, which allows me to perform the item duplication glitch. I do this glitch, duplicate the Spring Medal, and then I essentially have infinite money. I basically follow the All Debts route, which requires me to time travel once a month, paying off one debt a month, until July 20. From that day, I start focusing on completing my catalog and the museum, so I go through just about every single day of the year in the game. 7. Why do you use codes? I use codes for the following items in the speedrun: -Clu Clu Land D -Donkey Kong 3 -Donkey Kong Jr. -Soccer -Post Office Model -Modern Table The first four items are NES games and are unobtainable because they require E-Reader cards, or because they're from a special Nintendo event. The Modern Table is required for the duplication, and since I'm following the All Debts route at the start of the run, which uses the code for this table, I figured that it would only make sense to use it here instead of waiting for a table to show up in Tom Nook's store. The Post Office Model requires 999,999,999 bells in order to obtain, which with current strats, would take approximately 25 hours. As much as I would like to spend 25 extra hours on an 80 hour estimated speedrun trying to get this item, I don't feel that would be even remotely entertaining for anyone, nor would I really like to spend possibly a total of 105 hours on this. Sacrifices have to be made sometimes. c: 8. You know you can use codes for almost every item, right? Why don't you just do that for the whole speedrun? Well, first of all, that would be terribly boring and awful. Secondly, it would likely be much slower overall than just trying to find everything on my own. Third, if I'm closing in on 80 hours and I have a significant amount of stuff left to collect, I might get desperate enough to use codes for the rest of the items. However, it's highly unlikely I'll get to that point, even if I pass 80 hours. 9. Why do you change the Gamecube clock sometimes rather than always changing the clock in the game? While changing the in-game clock is technically faster, and I use it more often than not, changing the Gamecube clock allows me to avoid the unfortunate side effects of time traveling (trees don't grow, special characters stop showing up, etc.). I mostly change the Gamecube clock when I'm trying to get the Golden Axe, since that requires trees to grow. 10. Are you actually going to stay up for 80 hours straight? I recognize it's humanly possible to stay up for that long (3 days, 8 hours), but I also value being minimally functional, especially since this is still a speedrun and I do need to focus on certain things. I plan on taking 2 hour naps every 8-12 hours, which is what I believe is the least amount of sleep I can get away with and still be able to play somewhat well. Animal Crossing is a game of endurance rather than skill. 11. Will you ever do this again? Perhaps if there's a way to manipulate the items you find in such a way that you would rarely come across repeats, and if there's a way to get the Post Office Model without having to spend 25 hours duplicating bells. Otherwise, this is probably going to be the only run of this that I do.
